In 1943 Pierre Uniforms Inc., a uniform manufacturer servicing the medical and restaurant professions, emerged into professional costuming trading as "Costumes by Pierre". In 1961 Pierre purchased the tremendous inventory of "Miller Costumier" of Philadelphia which had been active since 1876. With this acquisition, Pierre became one of the world's foremost Costumers.
During the last five decades Pierre has maintained a complete full service professional costume house, designing and manufacturing on the premises.
Pierre services professional and semi-professional theatrical productions, national theatre tours, school & college theatres, motion pictures, advertising agencies, party planners, production companies, professional sports teams, print & TV commercials, major corporations, televised parades, theme parks, and costume shops throughout the world.
In 1993 Pierre's moved from Walnut street in Philadelphia to a new larger modern location 5 minutes away from downtown Philadelphia just across the Ben Franklin Bridge in Pennsauken NJ.
In September 2000, Pierre's returned to Philadelphia (Historic Olde City section) just in time for the busy Halloween season. The move was spurred on by a need for an even larger location. By the opportunity to design and create a brand new state of the art costume building studio. And to fill the void created by the demise of all the old theatrical costume shops closing over the years.
In Spring 2002, Pierre´s outgrew the Philadelphia location. At this point, Pierre´s moved the mascot building and Santa Claus operations to Wayne, Pennsylvania (30 minutes away). This gave the Philadelphia location the room it needed while maintaining the quality the customer wants.
Pierre's has well over 100,000 different costumes to chose from, making it by far the largest costume shop in the Philadelphia area / Delaware Valley, and one of the largest in the country.
The Williamson family is proud to be able to ensure the continuation of two of the country's oldest Costumers and so allow the public and theatrical organizations the opportunity of renting from a wide range of top quality in-house manufactured costume or original historic garments.
Pierre's Costumes also carries a full line of Halloween outfits, professional make-up, wigs and accessories. Pierre's also makes custom designed costumes for Television Personalities, Movies, Musicians, Performers, and many others.
Pierre's also continues it's long history of creating and designing original mascots for Corporations, Sports Teams, Theme Parks, Colleges, Schools, parades and more.
The Company is continuing with Pierre's tradition of providing the highest quality Costumes, while expanding the services offered, and building new inventory. Pierre's hires some of the brightest and best costumers in the country. This allows us to create items that others can only dream of.
